Addiction
You are addicted to some substance, such as caffeine, nicotine, etc. You will start to crave the substance if you don't get it often enough, and have to spend a willpower point per night to avoid giving in to the urge.
Bad Sight
Your sight is defective. Any rolls involving eyesight (including combat) lose -1 dice. This can be corrected with the help of glasses.
Colour Blindness
You can only see in black and white. Colour means nothing to you, although you are sensitive to colour density, which you perceive as shades of grey.
Note: colour blindness actually indicates an inability to distinguish between two colours, but we generalised a bit for the sake of playability.
Hard of Hearing
Your hearing is defective. You roll with one less dice for anything involving your hearing. This can be corrected with the help of a hearing aid.
Disfigured
A hideous disfigurement makes your appearance disturbing and memorable. In game terms, you suffer a -2 dice penalty on any social rolls not involving intimidation. You may not have an Appearance rating greater then 2.
One Eye
You have only one eye — which eye is missing is up to you. Any rolls involving visual perception are rolled at one less dice, as are any rolls for melee combat. Rolls for ranged combat are rolled with two less dice.
Deformity
You have some kind of deformity—a misshapen limb, hunchback, clubfoot, etc. which affects your physical abilities and interactions with others. A hunchback for instance, would lower a character’s Dexterity rolls by two dice and lower rolls relating to social skills by one dice. It is the responsibility of the Storyteller to determine the specific effects of the deformity chosen.
Lame
Your legs are damaged, which prevents you from running or walking easily. You are forced to walk with a cane or possibly leg braces, and have a pronounced limp to your stride. Your walking speed is one quarter that of a normal human and running is impossible.
One Arm
You have only one arm — choose which, or determine randomly at character creation. This could be a battle scar, birth defect or other form of injury. It is assumed that you are accustomed to using your remaining hand, so you suffer no off-hand penalty. However, you do suffer a two dice penalty to any Dice Pool wherein two hands would normally be needed to perform a task.
Permanent Wound
For some reason, you have a wound that never heals, which is effectively a permanent lethal health level. If you repair the damage with magic/super-science, the wound re-opens by the next day.
Short
You are well below average height: four and a half feet tall or less. You have difficulty reaching or manipulating objects designed for normal adult size, and your running speed is one half that of a normally proportioned human.
Deaf
You cannot hear. While you may ignore some powers that involve being able to hear, you may not listen to electronic or vocal media, and many alertness rolls are rolled with three less dice. You may learn to read lips, or sign language. Lip Reading is an ability all its own, while sign language can be purchased as an additional language via Linguistics.
Mute
You cannot speak. You may describe your actions, but cannot talk to other characters unless everyone concerned uses Linguistics dots to purchase a commonly understood sign language or you write down what you wish to say.
Blind
You cannot see. Characters can compensate for the loss of vision by becoming more sensitive to other sensory input, but visual cues and images are lost to them. Actions involving hand-eye coordination are very difficult to perform especially under stressful conditions.
